Transparent Conducting Electrodes for Flexible Optoelectronic Devices

Transparent conducting electrode (TCE) materials have attracted the attention of researchers and academicians due to their numerous applications in devices i.e. solar cells, photovoltaic cells, light-emitting diodes, touch-sensitive screens and flat-panel displays. Low sheet resistance and high transmittance are the two most desirable characteristics for a TCE film. Here, different materials such as transparent conductive oxides (TCOs), transparent conducting polymers (TCPs), carbon nanotubes (CNTs), metal nanowires, graphene, and their composites are discussed which have shown the potential of fulfilling the requirements of future TCEs. The advantages and challenges of these materials are also included which will provide a pathway to the naïve researchers working in this field.
